G2 True Archives

Overview

G2 True Archives fills the gaps in Business Central's document archiving. It adds archiving for production orders, assembly orders and transfer orders, which Business Central does not archive on its own, and it reshapes the standard sales, purchase, service and project archive pages so an archived document looks like the original order instead of a different layout. It also keeps the fields that other extensions add to your orders, so nothing is quietly lost when a document is archived. It is built for manufacturers and for anyone whose orders carry custom or add-on fields and who needs a faithful, complete history of what each document looked like over time.

How It Works

1. Install: Get G2 True Archives from Microsoft AppSource and install it into your Business Central environment.
2. Set up: Run the Set Up True Archives wizard to answer a few questions about when orders are archived and what is copied to each version.
3. Archive: Orders are archived automatically at the moments you chose, and you can archive any order yourself with the Archive action.
4. Review: Open Archived Versions on an order, or the archive list pages, to see each snapshot laid out like the original document.
5. Restore or copy: When you need an earlier state, restore a production order to a version or copy its lines, components and routing into a current order.

Licensing

G2 True Archives is licensed per production environment, billed monthly or yearly. Licensing is handled by G2's licensing app, which installs alongside it.

• Sandboxes: always free, and never need a license key.
• One key, one production environment. Each production environment needs its own subscription.
• Activating: after subscribing, search for Extension Licenses in Business Central, choose the app, select Activate and paste the license key from your receipt.
